Welcome to Year 2 Aquamarine!

Our class teacher is Mrs Hughes, and our teaching assistant is Mrs Nield.

During this half term our topic is:

As Readers and Writers we will focus on using neat and cursive letters, our sentences will start with capital letters and we will use adjectives to add detail to our writing.  We will improve the fluency of our reading.  You can help at home by listening to your child read as often as possible, you could visit the library or read magazines about woodland animals.

In Maths we will be understanding vocabulary associated with addition and subtraction and understanding place value.  You can help at home by discussing tens and ones in a two digit number and use different materials to add and take away.

For more details about the exciting things we are learning this half term please download our curriculum overview at the bottom of the page.

This is a very important part of the year for us as we will be completing the Key Stage One SAT’s tests. These will take place during May and will form part of the normal classroom routines.  For more information please speak to Mrs Hughes.

Reading books are changed on Mondays and Thursdays.  Please ensure that your child’s reading diary is completed so that we are able to change books on a regular basis.

We will continue to have weekly spelling tests so please practise these each week when your child brings them home.

As the weather is now getting colder please ensure that your child has a warm coat in school so that they are still able to enjoy their time outside.
