Welcome to Year 4 Ruby!
Miss Fenwick is our class teacher and Ms Murad is our teaching assistant.
If you have any questions about anything we are doing in Year 4, please feel free to speak to Miss Fenwick before or after school.
Year 4 is an exciting year. It is our final year in Lower Key Stage 2 before we move up to year 5 and wear purple jumpers! Our topic this half term is ‘It Can’t Be True’. We will be investigating interesting facts about the state of matter, the Digestive System and Romans.
In English, we will be investigating the features of a diary in our class novel ‘Roman Diary: The journal of Lliona, a Young Slave.’ We will be researching and creating facts about Roman soldiers and writing detailed accounts about how they lived. We will be revising our SPaG skills to help improve our writing.
In Maths we will be investigating and understanding Roman numerals and completing calculations using the four operations. Understanding fractions and using different resources to help us solve problem based fractions. It is really important that we know all our times tables off by heart by the end of year 4 so we will be practising them daily.
Please look at our curriculum overview and downloads below for further information about what we are learning and how you can help at home.
We also have Whitby to look forward to in a few months. It is a fantastic residential and for some children it will be the first time they have stayed away from home. It will be a great experience.
