Values and Ethos

At Carrwood Primary School, our school motto is ‘Dream Big! Aspire, Believe, Achieve.’

At the heart of our school are six core values which underpin all that we do. Values are important to us, we believe they help us to make decisions about how we behave and are the principles that guide our lives. All members of Carrwood Primary School demonstrate these daily.

Resilience – We persevere through challenges, adapt to changes and learn from our mistakes. We show determination and a positive attitude even when things are tricky.

Thoughtfulness – We are kind, safe and make helpful choices. We think how our words and actions affect others.

Respect – We value ourselves, others and our environment by showing kindness, listening carefully and treating everyone with dignity.

Aspiration – We aim high and always try our best. We believe in ourselves and try hard to achieve our goals.

Fairness – We treat others the way we would like to be treated. We make good choices that consider the needs of others.

Co-Operation – We work together as a team. We work well with others, share, take turns and help each other to succeed.

Thinking about values is not just something that helps us to learn when we are younger; it is a set of tools that we will carry with us throughout our life. Understanding values will help us to make difficult decisions even when we are grown-up. To feel valued is a special thing and something we want to make sure everyone experiences at Carrwood Primary School, as everyone is part of the Carrwood family and part of a family of schools within our wider Trust.

We celebrate when people are showing values – by sharing them in celebration assembly, sharing with parents by sending notes home or phoning parents/carers.
