Willow Resourced Provision

Welcome to Willow Class (Resourced Provision)

In Willow Class, we are lucky to have a fantastic team of supportive adults who work hard to help us learn and grow. Our team includes Mrs Clarke, Miss Keane, Mr Northin, Mrs Softley, Miss Austerfield, Miss Pearson, Mrs Kanwal and Mrs Gartlan. Together, we ensure that every child feels happy, safe and ready to learn. We recognise that every child is unique, and we aim for all of our pupils to have the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to be successful.

In Willow Class, we are a friendly team who work together and enjoy what we do. We love to take on new and exciting challenges. In Willow Class we know how important it is to use our manners and be respectful to others. We help each other when we can and are known for being kind and polite. We follow our school rules of Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe.

Pupils in Willow Class access a percentage of time in their mainstream classes in addition to Willow. This is done through personalised timetables, allowing them to learn in a way that best supports their individual needs and strengths. Our approach is flexible and responsive, ensuring that each child’s learning and wellbeing are prioritised. Lunchtimes are carefully supported to suit each child. Some children enjoy eating in the main dining hall and playing outside with their friends, while others prefer a quieter space in the classroom. We make sure every child feels comfortable, supported and included.

Willow Class is a warm and friendly place where we work as a team and enjoy learning together. We love taking on new and exciting challenges, always with a positive attitude.

Curriculum

In Willow Class, our curriculum is built around the individual needs and strengths of each of our children. We believe every child deserves to enjoy learning and feel proud of what they achieve. That’s why we shape our teaching to help pupils access as much of the mainstream curriculum as possible, while still giving them the personalised support they need to thrive.

Our curriculum is designed to help children grow in confidence—especially in their communication, social interaction, and physical development. We use a multi-sensory approach to bring learning to life, offering a balance of continuous provision, one-to-one sessions, and small group work. Many of our children also spend time in their mainstream classes, where they can build friendships and practise important social skills.

Visuals, Makaton and Attention Autism are part of our everyday teaching to support communication and understanding.

A Personalised Approach to Learning

In Willow, we understand that every child is unique, and so are their learning needs. That’s why we take a personalised approach to help each child grow—physically, socially, emotionally, and academically—so they can reach their full potential in a way that’s right for them.

Our curriculum is flexible and responsive, built around the individual targets set out in each child’s EHCP and Learning Plan. We use B-squared Connecting Steps to carefully track progress in small, meaningful steps. This helps us celebrate every achievement—whether it’s beginning to engage, gaining new skills, or mastering something completely. This tailored approach helps us plan lessons that are just right for each child.

Learning in Willow is hands-on and engaging. Lessons are designed to be multi-sensory, using a wide range of resources to make learning fun and memorable. Our staff play alongside the children, modelling language and interaction to help build strong communication and social skills in a natural and supportive way.

We have a provision room which provides a range of sensory exploration activities, and a learning classroom, where we complete our group activities and 1:1 learning. We have a welcoming outdoor space that features a climbing wall, sand pit, tunnel and slides which provides opportunities for us to develop our gross motor skills.

Reading

In Willow Class we love reading. We are encouraged to read every day with the adults and have timetabled sessions where we are able to read books that interest us either from our class reading corner or the school library. Throughout the year, we will have the opportunity to read lots of different books in our English lessons. Here are some examples of the type of books we will read:

Reading for Pleasure

We also have some year group authors who we learn more about throughout the year. These are:

– Autumn: Tom Percival
– Spring: Emily Gravett
– Summer: Mini Gray

Every child in Willow Class has been allocated their very own book bag complete with a Reading for Pleasure Book and Reading Record. We change our books every Monday and will expect your child to bring it with them on a Monday ready for a new reading book to be given. Each child has a reading bookmark for you to sign each time your child has read at home.
Once their bookmark is full it will go in to our class prize draw and they will get a new bookmark to complete. The prize draw will take place each half term.

P.E

Our P.E lessons are on a Monday and Friday. We use these sessions to focus on developing both our gross and fine motor skills. We also strongly encourage learners to independently change into their P.E kits to develop their personal care abilities.
