At Carrwood raising aspirations is at the heart of everything we do and together we always ‘Dream Big!’ We endeavour to remove any barriers our children may face and know if we encourage them to believe and aspire then they can achieve. The aim of our curriculum is to give pupils the skills they need to be successful, independent and motivated learners with the readiness for the next stage in their learning.
At Carrwood we offer our children a broad and balanced curriculum which identifies and develops our children’s own uniqueness and talents. Our curriculum has been carefully designed to have reading at the heart of it, with never ending opportunities to develop vocabulary and oracy. Our curriculum considers the knowledge and skills of all our children, whatever their starting points, and builds on these as they progress through our school.
Our curriculum is enhanced through linked experiences that provide an expanded view of the world through new and exciting opportunities. From Petals, through to Year Six we provide our pupils with experiences both in and out of school that they may not have had before, ranging from duck hatching, trips to the theatre, performing on stage, mini Olympics, author visits and enterprise projects.
Our curriculum incorporates the statutory requirements of both the EYFS Statutory Framework and the National Curriculum and is enhanced through a range of experiences and real life learning opportunities which best meet the needs of our children. We believe that every child at Carrwood Primary School will succeed and we strive to ensure our children understand their own greatness. Curriculum delivery ensures key knowledge is carefully mapped out for each subject to ensure learning is revisited and built on through different concepts. The curriculum is underpinned by our school’s core values (Resilience, Thoughtfulness, Respect, Aspiration, Fairness, Co-operation) and these are taught discreetly and through other areas of our curriculum, including assemblies.
Our children are at the forefront of our school and everything we do is to inspire them to achieve their potential and believe they can! We provide our children with a safe space which enables them to build resilience and with our support remove barriers – there is no limit for our children’s success and we believe anything is possible for them!
